'My mind is all over the place', 'I'm overwhelmed', 'I'm stressed; I can't think straight!' These are all really common phrases in our fast-moving lives but did you know that stress gets stored in your body? The mind is like an alarm system that tells us that body sensations are already registering the stress - think tight muscles, aches and pains, gurgling tummy and rapid breathing.

TRE® (Tension & Trauma Release Exercises) is a body-based practice that helps your body to release muscular patterns of stress, tension and trauma. The body is supported to do this safely by practitioners (like me!) who work gently to empower people to learn how to do the practice for themselves.

TRE® works by activating the body’s natural tremoring mechanism — a soothing shaking that helps to reset the nervous system - returning to ease and calm. It is simple but effective.

TRE® can help:

Reduce symptoms of anxiety, stress, PTSD and overwhelm
Improve sleep
Release physical tension
Build resilience

Help with pain

You don’t need to talk about your experiences as your body has an inbuilt ability to heal that we can harness. All mammals, including humans, are able to shake, tremor or tremble after a traumatic event. This is a natural response to stress and a way to release it. Think of a dog's reaction to fireworks! It’s just humans who attempt to hold everything in - rigid, contracted bodies are common in the face of difficult situations where the autonomic nervous system in fight-flight, freeze has produced adrenaline and cortisol.
