TRE® - Release stress naturally

TRE® - Release stress naturally
TRE® involves a set of gentle exercises that fatigue the muscles and encourage the body to shake, releasing tension and allowing greater body connection.

Perhaps, you are looking for a simple stress management tool.  Perhaps, you are looking to calm your responses to stress, tension and trauma.  Perhaps you feel emotionally stuck, frightened, angry, that you 'zone out' or 'drift off'. Perhaps, you are looking to give yourself space to find a place of calm.  TRE® can help with all of these, and more.  It is really worth exploring this body-based therapy.

TRE®, or Tension and Trauma Releasing Exercises, is an innovative series of exercises that assist the body in releasing deep muscular patterns of stress, tension and trauma. Created by Dr. David Berceli, PhD, TRE® safely activates a natural reflex mechanism of shaking, or vibrating, that releases muscular tension, calming down the nervous system.  When this shaking/vibrating mechanism is activated in a safe and controlled environment, the body is encouraged to return back to a state of balance. TRE® is based on the idea that stress, tension and trauma are physical and psychological.

TRE® with Kate

After a TRE® session, many people report feelings of peace and wellbeing. Other reported benefits include:  less worry and anxiety, reduced symptoms of PTSD, more energy and endurance, improved relationships, less workplace stress, better sleep, reduced pain, relief from chronic medical conditions, increased flexibility and greater emotional resilience.

TRE® is a safe and effective stress release technique for most people. This shaking mechanism in the muscles is part of our natural behaviour as humans, and other animals.  Have you ever watched a dog shake during fireworks or when they've spotted a fox on a walk?

Releasing emotions ranging from mild upset to severe anxiety,  it is designed to be a self-help tool that can be used as needed throughout a person's life to access good physical and mental health. You can let your body do its own healing and clear out overwhelming experiences. TRE® can also be used as an effective complementary practice when integrated with other therapeutic approaches.  Working slowly and safely, sessions can be tailored to any needs and intentions.

I found TRE® when I was looking to support my physical and mental health after cancer diagnosis and surgery.  It made sense that reconnecting with my body would help to address the trauma and stress faced. That is exactly what TRE® has done for me. Look out for other content about personal benefits that I have experienced with my TRE® journey.

So, there are different ways to learn TRE® and that is what I, and other practitioners, offer. Just like you would with Yoga or Pilates, you might like to attend a small group session. Or, you might prefer an individual session to become familiar with TRE® and then join a group session. Individual sessions are most beneficial if you have a trauma history.

You might be someone who would like more patience with your family; a victim of violence, accident or other traumatic experience or a person who wants to become more resilient and just feel better about life. Whatever your intention, you can benefit from the wonders of TRE®.  I have found TRE® to be life changing. Why not give it a go?
